GSnap Preview. Autotalent by Oli Larkin is an excellent real-time pitch correction auto-tune Vst plugin. The Autotalent plugin ensures that only the specified notes are hit. You might have to disable multiprocessor support in your VST host for it to work. Download: Autotalent OS: Windows. Autotalent Preview. Son of a pitch is an audio pitch-bend effect. The pitch of the incoming signal can be controlled by the pitch knob or by a sync to host LFO.
There are three filters to choose from, 2 SV filters and a Butterworth filter. Filters can be bypassed by sending the dry signal straight to the pitch bender. Son of a Pitch Preview. Evo Plugin Preview. Multiply is a free and versatile chorus effect with a unique twist. Each simulated voice is processed with a phase filter to avoid unpleasant comb filter effects.
The effect can be used to simulate the effect of several performers playing the same tones simultaneously. Multiply Preview. DSP 2 Vocal is a high precision insert effect for vocal processing and also includes an Intelligent Dynamic Processor, a saturator, a four-band equalizer fixed on vocal key frequencies, and a room emulator based on the Schroeder reverberator.
DSP 2 Vocal Preview. Old Skool Verb is an algorithmic reverberation for professional music production applications. Old Skool Verb Preview. Vocal Finalizer Preview. VocEQPro is a special vocal equalizer. Autotune is an indispensable music production tool.
You can hear autotuned vocals in all music genres, from the latest chart-topping singles to demo tracks by indie artists.
If your music production software collection lacks a pitch correction tool, our list of free autotune VST plugins will help keep your vocals pitch-perfect. Pitch correction is primarily used to correct pitch imperfections in a vocal recording. It can also change the vocal timbre and melody more intentionally, in which case autotune is used as a creative effect. Its pitch correction module is efficient and easy to use, earning Graillon 2 the number one spot on the autotune freebie list.
For example, you can mix the dry vocal with the autotuned signal for a unique chorus-like effect. Or, you can add some pitch shifting with preserved formants to the mix. This will effectively thicken the vocals, adding depth and slightly correcting the pitch at the same time. The developer recently released an updated version of Graillon 2. This free autotune effect is flexible and easy to operate, with adjustable speed, range, scale, and depth.
But, it’s a pain to install. It’s actually more of an annoying process to remove the plugins you don’t want, and then you’ve got the added extra MAudio bloatware that’s mb of space.
If you do want the full suite, a lot of the MeldaProduction range are extremely good free plugins that can help improve your mixes. But, a lot of the time, having that many plugins, just gets in the way of what you’re supposed to be doing — making music.
Formants shifting is a pretty wicked feature that MAutoPitch has over Graillon 2. If you alter this too much though, it will sound plain awful. Pick it up this free pitch correction device, from MeldaProduction’s website as part of their 37 free creative FX plugins pack.
MAutoPitch is great at both hard tuning and natural autotune sound. It’s also pretty great at picking up the pitch and correcting it properly. Not all free autotune plugins are as good at this, and can often reassign notes wrongly. Here is a before an after sound example of MAutoPitch free autotune plugin:.
Imagine a scenario where you want to auto tune the vocalist, but you’re not sure what key you need to be locked into, or when you choose a scale — it just sounds a bit off. Unlike the other free autotune plugins on this list, it shows you how much it’s correcting the notes by. But unfortunately, it doesn’t have any option for formant shifting, or preserving the quality through formants. One thing that GSnap does have, that the others don’t, is a vibrato control.
This can be pretty cool if used correctly in certain situations. GSnap is a great pitch correction VST to try out and add to your collection. GSnap isn’t as good at detecting pitch as the others on this list, and often corrects things out of key. Some of it will be in key, and other parts will be out. Maybe this is due to having to tweak a lot more settings, but it’s pitch detection and sound isn’t a patch of Graillon or Voloco.
One thing to note is that GSnap tends to crash a lot on Windows. It’s kind of annoying when you’re trying to work. KeroVee is free autotune software that was created by a Japanese developer: gkg, which is similar to GSnap.
In KeroVee you’re able to choose from a list of scales to snap pitch to, or choose the notes you want to tune to individually. It includes pretty much everything you’d expect it in a pitch correction plugin, and most of the features found in the previously listed autotune plugins on this list.
However, KeroVee has a few more features for control. As you can see, you have a vast selection of scales to choose from, alongside a huge selection of knobs. KeroVee gives you control for natural or robotic like sounding autotune , the ability to change tune speed , allowing for more hard tuned or natural sounding effects, and a master calibration knob that is automatically set to Hz.
Each Tone knob has volume and panning as well, and it sounds like it is controlling the tone of the autotune, applying what we think is subtle tube saturation to vocals. The GUI is pretty basic and honestly doesn’t look the best. The usability of the plugin is also flawed as opposed to the others on this list. KeroVee still produces that autotune sound you’re looking for extremely well, and has better control than GSnap, but is only bit.
KeroVee produces a really nice autotune sound, and the Tone control sounds fantastic. It adds a nice, almost tube style saturation effect to vocals, and gives them a little bit of bite. With graph tuning options, time alignment, and advanced features such as performance matching to save time on doubles, Revoice is hard to pass up if vocal work is your main gig, despite the high price tag.
Waves Tune Real-Time. Easy to use and dial in your settings Quality: Very High. This criminally underrated plugin has nearly the same quality results as Antares, albeit without the bells and whistles. It is unique from other tuners in that it has a separate knob for both speed and note transition, allowing for finer control over the intensity of the effect. Steinberg Cubase Variaudio. One noticeably absent feature is the ability to set a scale for graph editing, which I assume will come in an update since it seems to be a pretty sought-after feature understandably.
Soundtoys Little Alterboy. Most big-name DAWs these days have tuning options included as stock options, though they will not perform nearly as well as some of the options listed above excluding the aforementioned Variaudio. They are however great practice, and while they require a bit more finesse to get great results from, capable of creating release ready vocals. Remember— sometimes the best tool is the one you have!
Well there you have it, the 8 best autotune plugins to use to get those perfect sounding vocals. You now know a bit more about what to look out for when tuning, how to keep the performance natural, and the best tools to get you there.
